Volcano Iztaccihuatl Portillo
On this tour we will reach to the second Portillo (little port): 4,300 mts. above sea level (14,108 ft.), its name in Spanish is “White Woman”, or “Woman asleep” because of its shape.It’s a 4 hours hiking from the parking lot called la Joyita to the second Portillo and back to la Joyita. The weather can change suddenly. Landscapes are breathtaking, you can see the Popocatépetl and other volcanoes, and cities, if it is a clear day. Difficulty: moderate to difficult and also consider the altitude. It is 2 hours from Mexico City. The main elevation rise is 238 mts. above the sea level (781 ft.)from la Joya to the first Portillo, and 130 masl (427 ft) from the fist to the second Portillo. After that we will have lunch in a hut on the volcano’s base. Is an 11 hours tour.
