Xitle & Xictontle Volcanoes and Cuicuilco
We have volcanoes within Mexico City, 40 minutes from the center on the south part of our capital city, in the volcanic saw call Chichinautzin, where there are two small volcanoes that influenced in the destruction of one of the first civilizations in the Anahuac basin (nowadays Valley of Mexico), specially Xitle volcano. A nice 3 hours hiking to the summit 3100 mts. above sea level (10710 ft.) where we can see the bottom of the crater, enjoying the flora and fauna of the place.
After the experience, lets get a local lunch quesadillas, mushroom soup and pot coffee, to regain energy for the next point of the tour. Which is Cuicuilco, first archaeological site open to the public in Mexico City, and one of the first civilizations established around the year 500 B.C.,and this people were one of the tribes that inhabitated Teotihuacan. We will climb the circular pyramid and visit the site museum, it’s an amazing peaceful place!
